Hair today gone tomorrow
Many products claim to help hair re-grow but this is all hogwash. DR BRIGID MONDA separates the myths from the facts
Human hair is not vital for survival, but it protects us from heat loss, minor abrasions and the sunâs damaging radiation. Eyelashes and eyebrows protect the eyes and the hair in the ear canal and nostrils help filter out harmful particles.
Hair is also an organ of touch because it is sensitive to light touch and itâs a marker for identity and sexual attraction. Our hair has three phases â the growth phase which lasts two to five years and 85 per cent of the hairs on our body are in this phase.
Next is the resting phase which lasts two or three weeks and finally the shedding phase that lasts about 100 days and about 15 per cent of our hair is in this phase.
