Oscar red-carpet trends that you'll soon be seeing on the racks

(CBS) While there were a handful of celebrities who hit the mark on the Oscar red carpet, they were outnumbered by the misses.
That said, some of the trends I saw were one-shoulder, strapless or long sleeved dresses in metallics/sequins, white and black & gold combinations, and simple and smart jewelry choices.
Hair was swept up or left soft and wavy, and makeup was subtle and pretty. Overall most everyone looked good, but not great. (See my best- and worst-dressed lists for details.)
Pastels emerged as a fun and fresh trend. Here are some of the stars who showed us this:
