Flower girls
Roses, orchids, sunflowers, lilies… they seem be blooming on the city’s streets. Well, at least on hair accessories.
The retro look has extended to accessories as well, and you know this when you walk down Mumbai’s many fashion alleys, and spot a variety of floral hair clips, head bands, hair clutches making their presence felt. Large and small, in silk, chiffon, sheer, feather, or cotton, floral hair accessories seem to be the fashion du jour.
It’s easy to understand why these are popular when the advent of resort wear into the Indian fashion scene is taken into consideration. Most fashionistas unanimously vouch that a maxi dress and a floral hair clip are a pair made in heaven. Designer Nishka Lulla says, “Tie-up head bands with floral accessories can be teamed up with dresses really well. Plus, floral pins can be attached to your shoes or your outfits as a brooch. They are available in so many colours and they lend a feminine feel to your look. You could also wear a chiffon bandana with a synthetic flower attached to nail the boho look. Floral hair accessories really lift the outfit.”
