Ex-Barbour design manager launches Redana scarf label
IN a time of recession, leaving a secure job to set up on your own is a daunting task for anyone.
Yet Andrea Freeman has done just that. After a year of serious discussion, she left behind her role as design and development manager at Barbour, the South Shields-based outdoor brand which counts the Queen among its army of dedicated followers.
The 37-year-old has launched Redana, a luxury scarf label, which has already attracted global interest.
“I was happy running another business when I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, but then it was either keep going and doing the same thing or do it for myself,”, she says. “I thought it was about time to do it, there are a lot of opportunities right now. If I’d not done it this year, I’d have regretted it for a long time.”

That's how it is for me with silk scarves.' BY Lisa Armstrong | 16 December 2011 It's Grace Kelly's fault. I don't know if it's an actual syndrome, but whenever I see a picture of her, within hours I find myself in the vicinity of a silk scarf counter.
