Busy Belleville mom's art 'makes me feel happy'
Her creative business is called Nato Botto Art, a combination of her first name and her maiden name, Bottoms.
"I'll be working on a project and some random thing will remind me of something else," said the artist, who works out of her west Belleville home. "I can be easily distracted. I worry about forgetting an idea, so I have to stop and write it down."
Her acrylic painting of an elephant hangs in her 18-month-old son Indie's bedroom. Scrapbook-paper hearts float out of his raised trunk. Around the playful pachyderm Natalie wrote, "You Are My Sunshine."
At CeLeen Gallery & Gifts in downtown Belleville, her vivid abstract paintings of women, gently twisted and big-eyed ($200 and up), grace the brick walls.
Inside The Vineyard on the west end of town, ceramic beads shaped like owls, flower petals and tiny birds on perches dangle from earrings she made (around $20).
