Mystery solved of unidentified antique objects
NEW GLASGOW – Ninety-two-year-old Mildred Ervine can’t believe such a fuss is made over a button hook.
The New Brunswick resident, who grew up in the Plymouth area, said when she saw a recent newscast about a local pawn shop looking to find out what a mysterious item was in its possession, she called up her nephew in Stellarton.
“I asked him why everyone was talking about a button hook,” she said. “My mother and sister had one when I was a child. They would wear gaiters over their shoes and they started at the ankles and went to the knee or over it. All up the side were little buttons.”
The button hook, which is retractable, had kept the owners of East Coast Pawn Stars in Stellarton busy for the past week since its picture first appeared in The News last week.
