If you must indulge in feathers, take a few tips from Average Josephine
Feathers seem to be making a comeback this season — and Average Josephine is not sure if it’s a good thing.
There are feathers sewn into women’s hair, feathers made into earrings, even feather dresses. However, does all this plumage flatter, or should it be left for the fly fishers?
Average Josephine is a fan of fashion that is inspired by feathers. There are some lovely sweaters on the market trimmed in a pattern to resemble peacock feathers. She also finds small feather details on items such as hats to be rather appealing.
However, it seems too easy to cross the line from cute detail to an outfit that makes you look like Big Bird.
There’s also a retro tone to a lot of the feathers we’re seeing this season. Average Josephine is of an age where she remembers what were called “roach clips” in the 1970s. Many of these feathers hanging from ears and hair today remind her of these items, and not in a good way.
