New York, Jan 6 (TruthDive): In April this year, very close to the 100th anniversary of the Titanic disaster, items remaining after the world’s most famous shipwreck, are up for sale.
It was on April 15, 1912, the sinking of the ocean liner that hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic took place. A New York City auction is being readied by Guernsey’s Auctioneers & Brokers on April 11, nearly after 100 years of the incident.
Approximately, some 5,000 artifacts ranging from items as small as hairpin and as big as a chunk of the Titanic’s hull are up for sale. Also included in the sale are important archaeological assets created by RMS Titanic, Inc. on the eight research and recovery missions it has conducted at the Titanic site more than 12,000 feet below the ocean surface. These assets include, among other things, video of the dives, 3D images of the ship, and the first and only comprehensive survey map of the wreck site. The purchaser may also have the opportunity to assume the role of steward of the Titanic, to protect and preserve the wreck site for future generations.
