Bellisima Salon owner Maria Fajardo styled Monrovia resident and San Marino Patch Editor Jessica Hamlin’s hair for the Academy Awards this year and has done so for two previous years.

Fajardo, who opened her salon 16 years ago on Foothill Boulevard before moving to her Myrtle location 11 years ago, shares her advice for how to get ready for the red carpet:

Do Your Homework

Clients need to do their homework beforehand to see what styles they want, sort of like a bride would do. I tell them to bring different ideas and look at different books.

Prepare Your Hair

Wash, dry and condition; prepare the hair before your appointment so it’s nice and shiny.

Touch Up Color, Split Ends
