Mechanicsburg hair salon supports Home for Children

Some local hair stylists are giving cuts for a good cause, now through the end of January.

Great Clips Hair Salon, located in the Windsor Park Shopping Center in Mechanicsburg, is offering hair cuts for only $7.99 to anyone who brings in a pair of socks to donate.

The socks will go to the United Methodist Home for Children, located down the street from the salon.

According to Brenda Loyd, executive director of the Residential Care Program at the Home for Children, the relationship between Great Clips Hair Salon and the Home for Children began when the salon opened about six months ago.

Loyd said that the salon was offering affordable hair cuts, so some of the staff took several of the children in to get their hair trimmed. At that time, salon manager LeeAnn Witman struck up a conversation with a member of the Home for Children's staff, and the rest is hair styling history.
