Clips snap losing streak
The Nanaimo Clippers are fighting for their lives after losing three straight games earlier this month and despite a decisive 7-2 win over the seventh-place Aberni Valley Bulldogs (17-26-2-1) last night, the shipmen are treading dangerous water.
The Coquitlam Express (27162-2) currently enjoy a five-point lead over Nanaimo (22-17-0-9) for fourth place - and the last playoff spot in the B.C. Hockey League's Coastal Conference.
With only 13 games left in the BCHL regular season, it's do or die for the Clippers.
Friday's win added a muchneeded two points in their playoff quest.
Moments after an opening tally in the first period by Alberni Valley's Yan Kalashnikov from Artsiom Kashnikov and Alex Grupe, was an unassisted goal by Nanaimo's Luke Gordon to tie things up. Andrew Gladiuk from Clayton Chessa would provide the go-ahead goal, but not for long as Trent Dorais tied the game on a play involving fellow Bulldogs Evan Tironese and Josh Mitchell.
