However, it is the French who still lead the way with botanical extracts.
Caudalie, a brand favoured by Victoria Beckham – who tweeted about her use of the company’s Beauty Elixir – was established in France 15 years ago and is based around the health-giving benefits of grapes. Using seed oil and other natural extracts, its range of creams claim to have antioxidant properties. Victoria says the Beauty Elixir used on top of her make-up gave her a ‘glowing complexion.’ Although Caudalie products are costly – the Premier Cru Cream is a staggering £92.50 – a 30ml bottle of the elixir is just £11. Caudalie, by the way, is a French term for the length of time the taste of a wine lasts on the palate. Check out www.caudalie.com
Secret de Nuit is another French product, this time for hair care. It was developed by Phyto whose original hydrating cream for hair, Phyto 7, was launched back in 1968.
