Still a Daydream Believer
About the blogAn Army wife explores life on the Home Front. This blog is for and about the military spouse, a place where we can share, reflect and comment on this special lifestyle that only those who have experienced it can truly understand.
About the bloggerSonya Sparks Murdock began writing for the Fayetteville Observer’s Home Front column as a newlywed. Five moves, two children and 17 years of marriage later, she’s back as a Home Front columnist and veteran Army wife, still trying to figure out the military way of life. Sonya was born and raised in North Carolina, where she graduated from NCSU and Methodist University. Along the way, Sonya has dabbled in such varied fields as publishing, property management and even the airline industry (back when airplane galleys were actually used to cook hot meals, not just to store packs of peanuts). Since becoming a mom over a decade ago, she has devoted her time to raising her two very active boys and volunteering in the schools that they have attended from Maine to North Carolina. Sonya is also an occasional contributing writer for Elite, a military lifestyle magazine published by the Fayetteville Observer. Now Sonya adds blogger to her resume; before this, Sonya had never blogged a day in her life.

Jack McShane, 4, sat for his haircut after school by barber Josh Gilbert at Brookside Barber Shop at 308. W. 63rd Street in Kansas City, Mo. Time was, if a man felt the need to spruce up, he'd head downtown to the local barber.
