Man cuts trim short to chase thief
A man had his appointment for a trim cut short after he and his hairdresser gave chase to a thief who stole a mobile phone from the salon while he was in the barber's chair.
Hairdresser Darren Greenfield was cutting regular customer Kevin Winson's hair at the John Newman Hairdressing salon in Kettering when the thief came in and snatched the owner's phone.
Mr Greenfield, who lives in Weldon, said: "I was just in the middle of cutting Kev's hair when I saw him come in. He looked suspicious and I thought he didn't look like a potential client. All of a sudden John shouted 'He's got my phone'."
Darren and Kevin, still with the hairdresser's cape around his neck, chased the thief across Market Square before cornering him in a side street.
John Newman, 56, who runs the family-owned salon, said he tried to give chase but could not keep up.
