Medical records sought for Renteria, charged in Skokie double murder
Prosecutors and the defense are seeking medical records from Reed Mental Health Center in Chicago belonging to Miguel Renteria, the Skokie man charged with two counts of first degree homicide in the fatal October stabbings of his daughter and granddaughter inside the apartment he was leasing.
Renteria made another brief appearance in court Wednesday looking clean shaven with his hair cut short and wearing familiar beige prison garb.
Renteria’s lawyer, Deana Binstock, said that Renteria spent some time after his arrest at Cermak Hospital, part of the Cook County Department of Corrections, but that he has since moved back to the regular jail.
The defendant didn’t speak at Wednesday’s status hearing, which revealed both sides’ interest in obtaining medical records. The state had previously requested e-mail and hard-drive records from Renteria’s computer, which was granted by Judge Garritt Howard despite the defense’s objection.

The evening begins with Seacrest going down the line of contestants like a drill sargeant with an expensive haircut and a lifetime supply of Crest Whitestrips. When he gets to the end, he gives his "This is American Idol!" line, and Heejun mouths it
