Tonawanda's season comes to an end
TONAWANDA - Same gym. Same spot in the sectionals. And, sadly, the same results.Jesse Lalka had 16 points and seven rebounds, but it wasnt enough as No.6-seed Depew scored a 47-39 win over the No.2 Warriors in the Section VI Class B-1 semifinals that were played at Buffalo State College.
It was the exact same gym the Warriors saw their season end last year when they fell to Newfane.
Much like last seasons loss, the Warriors could not recover in time after a slow start.
Senior Jaden Cotton, an All-Metro first teamer in football, set the tone as he sank 19 points and dominated in the paint.
Plagued by missed shots and bad passes, the Warriors grabbed just two offensive rebounds, were 1 of 19 from 3-point range and didnt consistently box out.
I can believe that – I'm not sure if it's the writers, or something in Jesse
Daequan Cook ended it with a 3-pointer and the Thunder cut the deficit to 67-63 after three quarters. Durant and Philadelphia's Evan Turner drew technicals and had to be separated after a mini-scuffle in the final minute of the first half.
