I am 39, of medium build and have a few black spots near my eyes. Is there a home remedy for this? I hardly go under the sun and would like to get rid of the spots. Also, the recent short haircut I had makes my face look chinless. I really envy those with V-shaped chins. What can I do? No more chin

Audrey Ang, Estee Lauder senior education manager, says the black spots around the eye area are possibly freckles. These are tiny brown spots usually seen around the eyes and nose area, and on the body, and are more apparent on those with fair skin. If you have freckles and you werent born with them, it means theyre caused by sun damage.

The basic cause of freckles is a pigment called melanin that gives skin its colour. Sunlight on the skin encourages the production of more melanin in order to protect the skin layers underneath. If you have melanin that builds up in one place, it will result in freckles.
