Skin care tips during winters
What is the ideal skin care routine for this weather? If you already have a daily skincare regime of cleansing, moisturising and protecting with a sunscreen, in place, then half your battle is won. You just have to remember that you need to do it more often now. Dr Jaishree Manchanda, cosmetologist says, "You need to wash your skin thoroughly at least twice a day to remove the dirt, debris, pollutants and perspiration that have accumulated."
A clean skin should then be moisturised well. Dermatologist Dr Ashwini Padmawar says that oil-based moisturisers should be used if your skin is very dry in order to keep the skin soft and supple during winter.
What should you avoid doing in this weather to keep your skin healthy? Leaving home without proper moisturisation and without a sunscreen is a big no-no. Dr Meenakshi Agarwal, cosmetic surgeon says, "Avoid very hot-water baths and showers, and don't use harsh and drying soaps." Dr Manchanda advises against licking lips to do away with the dry feeling. "Licking may feel better briefly, but it only makes chapped lips worse," she says.
