Off the rack: Muscatine Recycling Center and Transfer Station will try ...
MUSCATINE, Iowa — When it comes to recycling, Laura Liegois is doing more than talking the talk and walking the walk.
She’s throwing in some dance steps, too.
Liegois, the solid waste
manager for Muscatine Recycling Center and Transfer Station, said her facility is trying out an idea for local prom-goers that’s “outside the box.”
In an effort to help families that have taken a hit from the economy, the facility will be giving away prom dresses that people donate.
“We’re asking for dresses that haven’t been on dates in a while,” Liegois said.
From 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, members of the community are encouraged to donate prom or formal dresses that are in good condition. Dresses can be dropped off at the recycling center, 1000 S. Houser St.
