Face takes on a different appearance for the new year
I still remember in seventh grade I changed from a side part to a middle part (or maybe it was the other way around). I was standing in line to pay for my lunch when the girl beside me said my name. I responded, and rather than talking to me she was responding to another girl still standing in line who asked who I was.
Since the girl in line was cute, this was rather flattering to a 12-year-old boy. But I also realized that this girl hadn't paid any attention to me with the old hairstyle. If it takes a certain appearance to attract someone's eye, then that person's probably focused mostly on appearance rather than other, more important traits.
Several years have passed since I could make any changes to my hairstyle. I can let the hair on the side of my head grow a bit long, but I don't like how it then becomes curly. I suppose I could let the back grow long, but then I'd be sporting some type of a mullet, and I think those went out of style with Billy Ray Cyrus.
