Four Women Receive Congressional Awards for Event to Help Homeless in Shakopee
Four women who put in countless volunteer hours to make Shakopee's Project Community Connect event for the homeless happen were honored Feb. 23 with "Star of the North" Congressional Awards.
Amanda Ladyha, Patricia Pettit, Allison Streich and Heidi Keyho were among a group recognized by U.S. Congressman John Kline for their volunteer efforts.
Approximately 400 individuals who struggle to meet their basic needs attended Project Community Connect and received an assortment of services such as haircuts, legal, vouchers for ID/Birth certificates, job applications, medical care, housing information, pet food and lunches.
"We are blessed in Minnesota to be surrounded by so many selfless individuals who are willing to step up to address the needs they see in our communities and beyond," U.S. Congressman John Kline said.
